Katie Sigg, COT, OSA, OSC, has spent more than a decade earning her way through nearly every seat in ophthalmology.

Katie started at the front desk of Carolina Eyecare Physicians in 2015, moved into the exam lane as a lead ophthalmic technician, assisted and circulated on anterior segment and retinal cases in the OR, and then stepped into leadership, building a practice’s clinical research department from the ground up as its lead research coordinator.

Most recently, as an account executive on the life sciences team at 20/20 Onsite, she helped biopharma, biotech, and device companies design clinical trial solutions that accelerate enrollment, improve participant retention, and ease the burden on patients, sites, and physicians. 

This fall she joins Market Scope as Director of Research, where she will lead the design, execution, and delivery of the firm’s primary research and help expand its portfolio of research products and services.

Katie is adjunct faculty and a lecturer with IJCAHPO and ASOA at the AAO and ASCRS conferences, and has published on surgical technique and regulatory policy in Administrative Eyecare and DIA Global Forum. Within Ophthalmic World Leaders (OWL), she chairs a committee for the New England Chapter, serves on Virtual Programs, and is an OWL Fellow, Class of 2024-2025. She also serves in Boston Chapter leadership for the Foundation Fighting Blindness.

Eleven years in, Katie counts the community she has found in eyecare among the best parts of the work. Drawing on a background that spans the clinic, the operating room, the research site, and industry, she mentors the technicians, coordinators, and early-career professionals coming up behind her, believing that the strongest work in eyecare happens when clinical, research, and commercial perspectives are all in the room together.
