Joe Boyd is currently the President and Chief Operations Officer of Executive Biotech Advisors who advises start-ups and global multi-nationals, biotechs, specialty pharmaceutical firms, device and diagnostic firms, and venture capitalists, investors, and private equity firms.

At Executive Biotech Advisors, he provides a brain-trust of C-level growth strategies to rapidly solve complex growth problems across a wide variety of disease states, while offering expertise in commercial and medical engagement of healthcare professionals, communications, strategy, and education to improve performance and achieve greater success with customized strategic business solutions to bring life-changing, life-saving products to market.

Prior to Executive Biotech Advisors, Joe served as Chief Commercial Officer for Avellino, where he led all global commercial functions for the company across pre-IPO activities, investor presentations, and performance of sales growth, marketing execution, and commercial effectiveness. At Avellino, he helped successfully launch AvaGen™, the first genetic eye test that accurately quantifies the risk or presence of sight-threatening conditions, including keratoconus, bringing precision medicine to both optometry and ophthalmology.

Throughout his career he has played an integral role in supporting companies of all sizes, successfully building customized sales, marketing and commercial operations. As part of his firm believe that strong partnerships are essential to company growth and success, Joe also is highly effective in reaching out to key medical leaders and customers globally, building relationships that benefit both patients and communities.

Joe’s therapeutic areas of expertise includes ophthalmology, oncology, urology, anti-infective, anti- inflammatory, allergy, asthma, dermatology, gastrointestinal, pulmonary endoscopy and biliary endoscopy.

With more than 20 years of experience in the diagnostic, pharmaceutical and medical device industry, Joe is also frequently asked to speak as an industry expert for different groups and associations, where he shares his experiences and strategies on topics such as sales and marketing effectiveness, medical affairs, healthcare compliance, and ethical issues affecting diagnostic, pharmaceutical, and medical device companies.

Joe has consistently earned numerous awards in small to large companies for performance including Commitment to Excellence Global Award. He is currently completing an Executive MBA from the Wharton School of Business and has earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and a Criminal Justice minor from the University of Memphis.
